Moving properly
A Mensendieck exercise therapist is a specialist in teaching healthy movement behaviour in daily life. The therapist looks at how someone moves and which muscles and joints they may be overtaxing. By gaining insight and doing customised exercises, people learn to move properly, so that they can prevent or correct complaints themselves in the future.
A Mensendieck exercise therapist treats complaints such as:
- lower back pain
- neck and shoulder complaints
- headaches
- complaints during pregnancy
- tension complaints, hyperventilation
- breathing problems
- joint complaints
- consequences of an incorrect work posture or sitting posture
- chronic disorders of the musculoskeletal system
What is the Mensendieck treatment procedure?
During the intake and the examination, the exercise therapist investigates your complaints and their cause. In consultation with you, the therapist looks at the relationship between your complaint and your posture, movement habits and stress factors in your daily life. A treatment programme is then drawn up that revolves around the help you need. The therapist makes you aware of your posture and way of moving in relation to your complaints. What happens when you sit, work, walk, bend down or lift? You learn to understand your complaints and how you can prevent them. You do exercises that you can easily fit in to your daily routine.
Referral and reimbursement
Mensendieck exercise therapy is directly available, so you do not need a referral note from your doctor. The treatment is reimbursed from your supplementary insurance.
Our Mensendieck exercise therapists are members of the professional association VvOCM and are listed in the quality register for paramedics.
